As a wedding photographer, I have watched, listened (and cried), to my fair share of wedding vows. I find them one of the MOST INTIMATE parts of the wedding, no matter if the couple’s vows are sentimental or more on the funny side.
That brings us to the million-dollar question: do you love a sentimental vow 💖 or more of a comedic flair 😂???
I personally LOVE a little bit of BOTH. Best of both worlds, am I right!?! 😉
While many brides and grooms get anxious trying to find the “perfect” thing to say, it should be less pressure!!! You are marrying this person because they are your best friend. Your partner. Your ride or die.
✍🏼 Make it personal. There is no right or wrong thing to say, speak from your heart.
✍🏼 Add in a favorite (or funny) memory with your partner. This is a great way to make it personal, intertwine a part of your history together and keep it more engaging.
✍🏼 Don’t try to include everything. Share a few of your favorite things about your partner or one memory that was a milestone in your relationship. It DOES NOT need to be a laundry list of things you love about them.
✍🏼 Think about what you want to say ahead of time. Write down some key points.
✍🏼 Use a personalized notebook to bring to the altar with you. I LOVED the little book Greta used because it was simple, elegant, and fit right into the pictures. Here are two affordable vow booklets for your day: minimalistic wedding vow book and customizable wedding vow book.
✍🏼 When your venue is as beautiful as Woodhaven, make sure your wedding photographer gets all of the shots at the altar as you share your vows.
